BackerKit and Shipping

Thank you to everyone who has responded to BackerKit. Over 70% of you have followed up and that's fantastic!

We took another look at our international shipping charges for Stroop and extra copies of Unreal Estate and realized we had forgotten to take into account our ability to bundle shipping with what backers have already ordered.

Based on our new calculations, we have decided to offer discounted shipping for international backers on their first copy of Stroop and/or their first additional copy of Unreal Estate.

It was a sincere mistake and just came about after looking at the numbers for days on end and trying to compare and make sure everything made sense. It was that mental fatigue you get after staring at the same thing for too long and thinking it looks correct. Big thanks to Backers who pointed it out.

Finally, if you know someone who missed the Kickstarter, pre-orders will be live soon, and we'll let you know so you can spread the word. Have a great week!

Extra Life

You may be aware that last weekend marked the annual Extra Life 24-hour game-a-thon that supports children's hospitals nationwide. If you did not have a chance to support an event, and you wish to do so, visit the Grand Gamers Guild page and make a donation.

The Other Side of Town

Talk about news to shout from the rooftops! Here in all their watercolor glory are the final two pieces of Gothic Estates. I'll repost the images once they are turned into cards, but for now, I'm going to stop talking, because my words are just not necessary. 

Stroop...here it is!

We are live on BGG and here for your viewing pleasure is an explanation and play video. The excitement of being able to get out of the gate not not just Unreal Estate, but also Stroop, defies words. There's your "Aww...!" for the day. Here's what's going on at the Guild.

The Art of Unreal Estate

During the campaign, there were backers who love Corinne's art but don't want it sealed between book covers, and they asked about the possibility of framing the book pages. The pages will absolutely be of high enough quality to frame and hang on your wall. We're getting an updated quote to see about building the book with perforation that will not affect the art, but will make removing them easier.

The Other Part of Town

Corinne is hard at work on the Druid Circle and Haunted Caravan pencil images that you voted for. She is fitting them in between her convention schedule, and given how amazing her art is, you know she's busy! Backers will be the first ones to see them. And speaking of being the first...

Stroop...

Stroop is on track with Unreal Estate and backers get first crack at it. What do you think of our updated box design? It is actually a throwback to Jonathan's original prototype box. Click on the image to get a description of the gameplay.

Happy Halloween Backers! Thanks for your patience while we get everything set. BackerKit is being set up and will be submitted for review this week. As soon as we receive approval, we'll send your survey and keep things moving.

Remember that in addition to ordering extra copies of Unreal Estate and The Art of Unreal Estate, you will also have special access to our second game, Stroop, at a discounted price of $15 (regular price of $18).

Stroop is a real-time observation game based on the psychological Stroop Effect, which is a phenomenon caused by different functions of the brain interfering with one another. The cards in Stroop each display a single word. The words are printed in several colors (white, red, blue, and yellow), sizes (big and little), styles (hollow and solid) and have different numbers of letters (three, four, five, and six). The challenge is to read one word and quickly match it with the description of another word—without regard to what the second word says. Race to empty your deck before your opponents! Be prepared for your brain to bend in all sorts of ways, especially when the second round turns the rules on their head. It's a mind game where your own mind works against you.

We are so excited to bring you not just one game, but two, right out of the gate. The games will be manufactured and shipped simultaneously. Thanks for your patience and we'll reach out again shortly.

We hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. Here at the Guild we definitely took some time to regroup after an incredible final push. Now it's time to tackle the tough stuff: finalizing the rulebook and components, choosing a manufacturer, and eventually pulling the trigger and getting Unreal Estate made.

Extra Life

I spent some time this weekend at our local comic con. There I volunteered with Extra Life, helping to get the word out for our upcoming game-a-thon on Nov 5 to support Helen DeVos, our local Children's Hospital. 12 years ago they kept my premature son alive. It is a cause near and dear to my heart. While at the show, I also got to talk to Travis McIntyre from Source Point Press, who is helping layout and co-publishing our Art of Unreal Estate Book. Things are in motion and we'll have great stuff to show you soon.

Gothic Estate: The Votes Are In!

The votes are in and tallied, and here are your choices for Druid Circle and Haunted Caravan. Corinne will get to work with her watercolor magic, and as soon as they're done, we'll show you in an update.

Stroop

While in process with Unreal Estate, Grand Gamers Guild signed our second game: Stroop designed by Jonathan Chaffer. Stroop is a real time game where players race to get rid of their cards, but have to overcome the Stroop effect. In psychology, the Stroop effect is interference with reaction time. For example, when you see the word blue written in the color orange, and your mind takes time to sort that out. It will make your brain bend in all sorts of ways: words have 3-6 letters, appear in 4 colors, are BIG or small, solid or hollow. You, dear backers, get first shot at this game at an extra low price. We appreciate your support, and we want to reward you by giving you first crack at our second game. BackerKit will be out soon to collect your information, and just like Unreal Estate, you'll have Stroop before the rest of the world.
